Shmatko Sergey Ivanovich
Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation

Sergey Shmatko was born in Stavropol on September 26, 1966. He served in the submarine forces of the Northern Fleet.

In 1983 – 1990 he studied at mathematical-mechanical faculty, further at faculty of political economy of the Ural State University (Sverdlovsk), and in 1990 – 1992 he studied at economical faculty of Marburg University (FRG).

In 2004 he graduated from Postgraduate Course “Defense and Security Assurance of the Russian Federation” of the Military Academy of the Joint Staff of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Since 1992 he was an auditor in BDO Binder (Frankfurt am Main), was appointed as a director of RFI GmbH – Association on investment consulting in Russia, which is the official representative of the Russian Federal Property Fund in European Union, was a researcher of the Institute on Investment Problems and managed the Foreign Relations Department of the Russian Regional Development Bank.

In 1997 – 1999 he was the head of the Research Centre for economic strategy of Rosenergoatom.

In 1999 – 2001 he was an economic strategy advisor of the general director of All-Russian Research Institute for NPP Operation.

In 2002 – 2005 he was the chairman of the State Conversion Fund.

In June 2005 he was the president of Atomstroyexport CJSC, in January 2008 he was appointed as deputy director of Atomenergoprom OJSC (he coordinated two posts).
